Overview

Health Spending Accounts (HSAs) are designed to make reimbursing eligible medical expenses simple.

Your employer contributes funds to your HSA, and you can use those funds to reimburse eligible medical expenses throughout the year. Blendable administers your HSA and processes your expense submissions, helping ensure you're reimbursed as quickly as possible.

This article explains how the process works from contribution to reimbursement.

The details

Where funds come from

Your organization (also known as the Plan Sponsor) makes contributions to your Health Spending Account on your behalf.

The amount and frequency of these contributions depend on your specific Plan design.

What does Blendable do?

Blendable is the administrator of your Health Spending Account.

We hold your HSA funds in trust and administer your account according to your Plan's rules and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidelines.

You submit eligible expenses

When you incur an eligible medical expense, simply submit it through your Member Centre along with any required supporting documentation.

Our Claims team reviews each expense to ensure it meets your Plan's rules and CRA requirements.

We reimburse your expense

Once your expense has been reviewed and is determined to be eligible, your reimbursement is issued by direct deposit using the banking information in your Member Centre.

Anything else?

Every Health Spending Account is a little different. Things like contribution amounts, available balances and what happens to unused funds are determined by your organization's Plan.

To learn more about your specific HSA, check your Member Centre or explore our other Help Centre articles on eligible expenses, submitting expenses and understanding your account.
